New Age Movement

New Age (New Age Movement and New Age Spirituality) is a decentralized Western social and spiritual movement that seeks Universal Truth and the attainment of the highest individual human potential. It combines aspects of cosmology, astrology, esotericism, complementary and alternative medicine, various religious practices, collectivism, nature, and environmentalism. New Age Spirituality is characterized by an individual approach to spirituality, while rejecting religious doctrine and dogma.
The New Age Movement first appeared as an entity in the 1960s and 1970s, although elements can be traced back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Murder of Agamemnon

After a stormy voyage, Agamemnon and Cassandra landed in Argolis or were blown off course and landed in Aegisthus' country. Clytemnestra, Agamemnon's wife, had taken a lover, Aegisthus, and they invited Agamemnon to a banquet at which he was treacherously slain. According to the account given by Pindar and the tragedians, Agamemnon was slain by his wife alone in a bath, a blanket of cloth or a net having first been thrown over him to prevent resistance. Clytemnestra also killed Cassandra. Her wrath at the sacrifice of Iphigenia, her jealousy of Cassandra, and the possibility of going to war for Helen's affection are said to have been the motives for her crime.

Sitting Bull

Sitting Bull was born with the name Hoka-Psice (Jumping Badger), which was understood by members of his tribe as only a temporary name.[1] His father was named Tȟatȟaŋka Iyotȟaŋka (Sitting Bull, after whom he would later be named), his mother was named Her-Holy-Door, and he had a sister, six years older than he, named Good Feather. As a youth, Sitting Bull excelled at foot races and was an expert horseback rider and was very accurate with a bow and arrow.[2]
At about the age of 14, Sitting Bull participated in a war party that met Crow warriors.[3] He overtook one of the warriors during their retreat, and knocked the Crow off his horse. For this, Sitting Bull earned a white eagle feather, symbol of a first coup, and also received the name of his father. His father changed his name to Jumping Bull, and henceforth Sitting Bull would be known as Tatanka-Iyotanka, or Sitting Bull.

Native American Church (Peyote Road)

Native American Church, a religious denomination which practices Peyotism or the Peyote religion, originated in the U.S. state of Oklahoma, and is the most widespread indigenous religion among Native Americans. Peyotism involves the use of the entheogen Peyote, a spineless cactus.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Native_American_Church

Quanah Parker is credited as the founder of the Native American Church Movement, which started in the 1890s, and was formally incorporated in 1918. Parker adopted the peyote religion after reportedly seeing a vision of Jesus Christ while suffering from a near fatal wound following a battle with Federal Troops. Peyote is reported to contain hordenine and tyramine, phenylethylamine alkaloids which act as potent natural antibiotics when taken in a combined form. Parker was given peyote by Carrizo Coahuilatecan Indians in south Texas who healed him and showed him the proper way to run peyote ceremonies. Therefore, the genesis of modern NAC ceremonies have deep roots in Mexican Indian culture and ritual, due to the natural locality of Peyote and the dissemination by Parker to the Comanche and other plains tribes located in Indian Territory.[citation needed]. This key aspect of medicine history is often overlooked, and tension arises between NAC members who discriminate against Mexicans, ignorant to the knowledge that the way formed in this church was started by Mexican Indian relatives[citation needed]. Parker's words and teachings comprise the core of the Native American Church Doctrine and the "Peyote Road."

Animism

Animism
Animism (from Latin anima (soul, life)[1][2]) is a philosophical, religious or spiritual idea that souls or spirits exist in humans, animals, plants or other entities.[3] Animism may also attribute souls to natural phenomena, geographic features, and metaphors in mythology. Religions which emphasize animism in this sense include Shinto, Hinduism and pagan faiths such as folk religions, Neopaganism, among countless others. Throughout European history, philosophers such as Plato, Aristotle, Thomas Acquinas, among others, contemplated the possibility that souls exist in animals, plants and people.

Diogenes (Stand out of my Sunlight)

Diogenes of Sinope
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Diogenes by John William Waterhouse, depicting his lamp, tub, and diet of onions.
Full name Diogenes (Διογένης ὁ Σινωπεύς)
Birth ca. 412 BC, Sinope
Death 323 BC,
Corinth School/tradition Greek philosophy, Cynicism
Main interests Asceticism, Cynicism
Notable ideas Became the archetypal Cynic philosopher

Influenced by Antisthenes Influenced Crates of Thebes, other Cynics, the Stoics Diogenes (Greek: Διογένης ὁ Σινωπεύς Diogenes ho Sinopeus) "the Cynic", Greek philosopher, was born in Sinope (modern day Sinop, Turkey) about 412 BC (according to other sources 404 BC),[1] and died in 323 BC,[2] at Corinth. Details of his life come in the form of anecdotes (chreia), especially from Diogenes Laërtius, in his book Lives and Opinions of Eminent Philosophers.

Diogenes of Sinope was exiled from his native city and moved to Athens, where he is said to have become a disciple of Antisthenes, the former pupil of Socrates. Diogenes, a beggar who made his home in the streets of Athens, made a virtue of extreme poverty. He is said to have lived in a large tub, rather than a house, and to have walked through the streets carrying a lamp in the daytime, claiming to be looking for an honest man. He eventually settled in Corinth where he continued to pursue the Cynic ideal of self-sufficiency: a life which was natural and not dependent upon the luxuries of civilization. Believing that virtue was better revealed in action and not theory, his life was a relentless campaign to debunk the social values and institutions of what he saw as a corrupt society.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diogenes_of_Sinope

The story goes that while Diogenes was relaxing in the sunlight one morning, Alexander, thrilled to meet the famous philosopher, asked if there was any favour he might do for him. Diogenes replied, "Yes: Stand out of my sunlight."

Druids

A druid was a member of the priestly and learned class in the ancient Celtic societies of Western Europe, Britain and Ireland. They were suppressed by the Roman government and disappeared from the written record by the second century CE. Druids combined the duties of priest, judge, scholar, and teacher.[1] Little contemporary evidence for them exists, and thus little can be said of them with assurance, but they continued to feature prominently in later Irish myth and literature.[2]
The earliest record of the name druidae (Δρυΐδαι) is reported from a lost work of the Greek doxographer Sotion of Alexandria (early second century BCE), who was cited by Diogenes Laertius in the third century CE.[3]
The Celtic communities that Druids served were polytheistic. They also show signs of animism, in their reverence for various aspects of the natural world, such as the land, sea and sky,[4] and their veneration of other aspects of nature, such as sacred trees and groves (the oak and hazel were particularly revered), tops of hills, streams, lakes and plants such as the mistletoe.[5] Fire was regarded as a symbol of several divinities and was associated with cleansing. Purported ritual killing and human sacrifice were aspects of druidic culture that shocked classical writers.[6]
Modern attempts at reconstructing, reinventing or reimagining the practices of the druids are called Neo-druidism.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Druids

Nature Centered Spirituality
Many Druids are animists, which is sometimes mischaracterized by modern commentators as "nature worship." Like the Native Americans, most Druids see all aspects of nature as imbued with spirit, a soul if you will, whether or not they interpret that literally or metaphorically. Like the deities of the Celts, the animals and plants are seen as members of a Tuatha, or tribe. The spirits of nature are seen as relatives of an extended family and are therefore honored as kin. The whole of nature along with the other spirits of the unseen realm are seen as a large tribe of tribes, a familial way of describing the interconnectedness of the ecosystem that is the earth. The mother Goddess Danu gives her name to both the tribe of the deities, and the overall tribe of tribes, which in the Gaelic is the "Tuatha De Danaan," the tribe of Danu. The hierarchical concept of worship involving submission and obedience by us as lesser beings is not a concept compatible with Druidry, despite the frequent misunderstanding base on the Judeo-Christian hierarchical concept of worship.

This is the Acute Perception Game when the Wolfman mistakes a Weasel for a Hamster. If the Wolfman is really randy and crooked he gets stung by a Queen Bee (or a Queen of Hearts Bear) as well. Escapades on the "D" Train.

The Caduceus of Mercury (Roman) and the Karykeion of Hermes (Greek)

The Caduceus of Mercury (Roman) and the Karykeion of Hermes (Greek)

Hermes
For then she bare a son, of many shifts, blandly cunning, a robber, a cattle driver, a bringer of dreams, a watcher by night, a thief at the gates, one who was soon to show forth wonderful deeds among the deathless gods. Born with the dawning, at mid-day he played on the lyre, and in the evening he stole the cattle of far-shooting Apollo on the fourth day of the month; for on that day queenly Maia bare him. So soon as he had leaped from his mother's heavenly womb, he lay not long waiting in his holy cradle, but he sprang up and sought the oxen of Apollo. But as he stepped over the threshold of the high-roofed cave, he found a tortoise there and gained endless delight.
http://ancienthistory.about.com/library/bl/bl_text_homerhymn_hermes.htm

Then Hermes answered her with crafty words: `Mother, why do you seek to frighten me like a feeble child whose heart knows few words of blame, a fearful babe that fears its mother's scolding? Nay, but I will try whatever plan is best, and so feed myself and you continually.
So saying, Apollo twisted strong withes with his hands meaning to bind Hermes with firm bands; but the bands would not hold him, and the withes of osier fell far from him and began to grow at once from the ground beneath their feet in that very place. And intertwining with one another, they quickly grew and covered all the wild-roving cattle by the will of thievish Hermes, so that Apollo was astonished as he gazed.

The Caduceus of Mercury (Roman) and the Karykeion of Hermes (Greek)

Many "medical" organisations use a symbol of a short rod entwined by two snakes and topped by a pair of wings, which is actually the caduceus or magic wand of the Greek god Hermes (Roman Mercury), messenger of the gods, inventor of (magical) incantations, conductor of the dead and protector of merchants and thieves. It is derived from the Greek karykeion = "herald's staff", itself based on the word "eruko" meaning restrain, control.

Hermes

Hermes (Greek, Ἑρμῆς, IPA: /ˈhɝmiːz/) is the messenger of the gods in Greek mythology. An Olympian god, he is also the patron of boundaries and of the travelers who cross them, of shepherds and cowherds, of thieves and road travelers, of orators and wit, of literature and poets, of athletics, of weights and measures, of invention, of general commerce, and of the cunning of thieves and liars.[1] His symbols include the tortoise, the rooster, the winged sandals, and the caduceus. The analogous Roman deity is Mercury.

Comment: I can only see the literature connection with the Butterfly types (ESFP). I am not sure I understand the Tortoise (it seems like the opposite) or the caduceus (which seems like ENTP).

Door 101

Do you feel bewildered and even get badly defeated by stupid Rodent types (ESXJ) because the Guardians (SJ) in charge of the resources cannot see where you are at, and you cannot explain.

The Rats (ESXJ) being fellow Guardians can connect better and the Hawks (INTJ) lack the Perception and go along with the crowd (often secretly).

The Artisans (SP) are more akin but their Picnic games are bewildering and seem mean and the Cats (ISFP) and other Irrationals (SF) leave you scratching on the outside of the door. Or do even have the courtesy to tell you where the door is located. Somehow, I/you are meant to guess (or use Feeling) from a myriad of possibilities, with each Door guarded by a Psychopathic Unicorn (ESFJ variant).

OODA Loop Extract

The OODA Loop (for Observe, Orient, Decide and Act) is a concept applied to the combat operations process, often at strategic level in both the military and commercial operations. It was created by military strategist and USAF Colonel John Boyd.

The key is to obscure your intentions and make them unpredictable to your opponent while you simultaneously clarify his intentions. That is, operate at a faster tempo to generate rapidly changing conditions that inhibit your opponent from adapting or reacting to those changes and that suppress or destroy his awareness. Thus, a hodgepodge of confusion and disorder occur to cause him to over- or under-react to conditions or activities that appear to be uncertain, ambiguous, or incomprehensible.

Max-Neef on Human Needs

Max-Neef on Human Needs and Human-scale Development

Conventional western ideas of development and progress are seen by many as a root cause of rainforest destruction and other aspects of the global ecological crisis, but what are the alternatives? Development as it is usually conceived is based on a particular view of human nature. This view, which is taken for granted by economic rationalists, assumes that human beings are driven by a limitless craving for material possessions. Max-Neef’s conception of what human beings need, and what motivates them, is fundamentally different. If decision-makers operated according to his assumptions rather than those of most economists, then the choices they made would change radically. This article by Kath Fisher outlines Max-Neef's ideas on human needs and Human-scale Development.

The Book: Miscellaneous Dialogue

'Can I borrow your partner for a few minutes. It is not that I am madly in love with her. It is just that being a single boy I get bothered by girls, especially clingers, and if I could collapse into her arms at the first sign of trouble, and whisper dirty stories in her lug to keep her amused, or horrified, with the appropriate exclamation: Oh you are so awful! This would be a great help.'

'That was some mouthful. You could say all that without pausing for a breath. You ought to be a singer with an Irish folk band.'

'Balls ache. Her idea of affection is a kick in the goolies.'

Chapter 34

The Seahorse Panda wants her Brother in next door so she (he) can find her mate which will be a Bully or a Horseman and therefore incompatible if either sex with me for relationship purposes and will attract sexual jealousy for hell purposes. The situation is impossible to live with.

The Seahorse Panda and Eagle are at odds to the point of Murder.

Chapter 33

I went to the Royal Sovereign (or the Bucket of Blood) and spotted a heavyweight male Dragon (INFP) at Critical Stress and in predatory mode. In this condition they make disparaging remarks and can be competitive and aggressive, if not downright dangerous.

It was home territory but not very well known and there was only one friend. There seemed to be plenty of talent around (perhaps even some Secretaries), but it was too dark to ascertain the Guardian quotient.

In short, I was too distressed to handle it and went out to sea (the Ship). This was for the decor, not the people.

Later, a ghost walked over my grave and I chilled out just a little.

Transference

Transference is the tendency for a client in psychotherapy, known as the analysand, to transfer emotional responses to their therapists that reflect feelings the analysand has for other significant people in his or her life. Transference often echoes clients' relationships with their parents or with other persons who played a central role in their childhood.

Snake is Hissing

It's the judgement call of the other people that makes me depressed. Notably, all the Horsemen (ESFJ), most of the Bullies (ESFJ), the Wolfman (ENTJ) and the conniving secretive Hawks (INTJ). They all judge me wrongly. I am not so keen on the games Bears (ISTP) and Cats (ISFP) play either.

That leaves just the Skylarks (INFP), Rainy Day Butterflies (ESFP), Eagles (INTP), Dragons (INFP), Snakes (ENTP), Ferrets whom I love (ENFP), with a wary open mind about the dangerous Panther (ESTP).

Dogs (ISTJ) are boring and can make me seeth as they act on instructions from narcissist Wolves. Which leaves the Beaver (ENFJ) which mostly I don't get on with and the last one is the Mouse (ISFJ) which contaminate. Clean Hamsters (ISFJ) are tolerable.

Biggest disdain for the Camelhead (ESFJ variant) and an enemy Wolf. Beware of the Panda (ISTP variant) and the Unicorn (ESFJ variant). Love the Secretary Bird (IXXJ).

Chapter One (Second Draft)

Chapter One

With bear-like determination she stalked over to sit next to me from the other side of the saloon bar.

'Are you gay?' she asked bluntly.

'No, I am a crocodile.' I answered mysteriously and with a heavy heart.

She sucked through a straw on a Snowball (a mixture of Advocaat and Lemonade).

I did not know actually who she was. I strongly suspected she belonged to a criminal gang and I was being propositioned, perhaps lured into a world in which my lower middle class upbringing had not equipped me to cope with. I was feeling vulnerable.

She was not phased by my reply for long. Another pint of rough cider appeared in front of me.

'Are you gay?' she repeated. My face showed perplexity.

'You just asked me,' I replied.

'And you came up with what you must know is rather a strange reply.'

'Well, it was rather a strange question,' I answered back.

I was wired and running on a heady mixture of adrenalin and alcohol.

I sensed she was beginning to get irritable, if not a shade angry. My mind scan guessed she was deciding if I was mad or drunk or both, or perhaps she thought I was high on illicit drugs?

Her full breasts heaved with her excited breathing and stretched the thin brownish cream fabric of her blouse. Her long blonde hair was streaked with a red dye. But my gaze was already wandering.

'There is nothing wrong with being gay,' she suggested.

I was jerked back to attention.

'Crocodiles get a very bad time of it,' I replied with an outwardly broad and friendly smile. 'You may think that we cannot cry, but it is just that you cannot see our tears.'

I took a large gulp of cider.

'So I am not gay at all, I am miserable,' I admitted.

'Is that why you drink?'

I shook my head.

'I come into the pub for company. To find some friends, but most of the time, I seem to be surrounded by idiots.'

She was conventionally attractive in a rough hewn artisan sort of way.

'Do you go to work?' I asked.

'If looking after a family of six boys and a young girl is work, yes, I work very hard.'

'I suppose you know a lot of things, about children and barbecues and picnics,' I suggested.

Gaslight

A bell clangs in the early evening gloom of a foggy Victorian street as the muffin man does his rounds, while in the tall, forbidding house which is becoming her prison, Bella Manningham is slowly losing her mind. Her husband's tyranny and the insolence of her housemaid, plus the air of mystery in her home, have driven her almost to breaking-point ... So the scene was set for - Patrick Hamilton's powerful thriller, "Gaslight".

Set at the end of the last century, the play shows how a married woman in those days was completely controlled by her husband, and had very little chance to make her voice heard, even when trapped in a situation like Bella, the wife in this piece.

While Jack Manningham goes out on the town each evening, his wife cowers alone in her room, lit by the shadowy gaslight, listening to the mysterious footsteps overhead. When an unexpected visitor turns out to be an ex-policeman, Sergeant Rough, Bella realises she's caught in some very sinister happenings.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

Explanation of theoretical approaches
Both counsellors and psychotherapists work from a variety of theoretical approaches with their clients. These therapies range from the type of psychoanalysis, originally practised by Sigmund Freud and later developed into other forms of analytic psychotherapy by his pupils, through humanistic psychotherapy (based on personal growth and self development) to the behavioural therapies used for dealing with specific phobias and anxieties.

The following web page has an alphabetical list of commonly used theoretical approaches with brief descriptions of their meanings

My Modern Animism system which is very like the Myers-Briggs system is Jungian and that is not on the list.

Wolves hunting Horses

The Wolves (ENTJ) are hunting down all the errant Horsemen (ESFJ) as they are incompatible. One problem is that an Eagle (INTP) on the grip on Inferior Function (Critical Stress) resembles a Horsemen in psychological projection. It may appear identical, but it is not because the Eagle uses logic to an extreme degree.

The Horse-ravished girls in the shop window.

The First Story (Notes and Possible Revision)

This is higher than politics and is really just the Mongoose and the
Snake game. Except it was complicated by two of the Mongoose types and
a Unicorn under the Crazy Horse (Critical Stress) who attacked me and
further complications.

The problem for me was that the ambush and attack was so unexpected and
incomprehensible that I was completely lost and panic stricken. The
second problem is that I did not know about the activities of the
stalker (originally thought to be a Panda, now thought to be an ambivalent weathervane Guardian, possibly a malignant Cat). And I did not realise that Snakes spooking Horsemen was
incurable and fixed. The Horsement are not rationals. All the Guards
see the world from their fixed and rigid dimension.

If you are in this position, avoid the Ceremonies of the Horsemen (this
meant to be a Barbecue), and be careful of the Teddy Bear's Picnic, and
all Pandas. None of these things did I do.

In the fiction version, the Nuclear Bomb (which even the Chief of

Final Chapter

Beware of the following attack modes by these bastards:

1) Hypnotism and plied drinks in the community.
In the spirit of bonhomie, you may be drugged and hypnotised and suggestions planted in your head.

2) Skullduggery.
You may be rendered unconscious and expertly kicked in your head in such a way, that it is an attempt at brainwashing.

3) Honey Trap
You may be lured into a compromising or unsuitable relationship by sex magic. Or you could have a psychotic Stalking Horse tracking your every move.

4) Identity Theft
Your identity may be stripped from you and then are turned into a non-person, with no history, no friends, no life at all. All your achievements will be stolen and put in the name of Another.

1) Do not maintain the illusion that you are immune from hypnotism. Only very stupid people are and they will not be reading this.

2) This is impossible to defend against. An ambush can occur at any time.

3) This one is not unpleasant, except you have to have your wits about you or else you could end up with a Pony Girl or Crazy Horse, which is OK if they are intelligent (not recommended) but are a nightmare if they are a bit thick (most of them are).

Cruel Sister

There lived a lady by the North Sea shore
(Lay the bent to the bonnie broom)
Two daughters were the babes she bore
(Fa la la la la la la la la la)

alternating with each of the lines below>

As one grew bright as is the sun,
So coal black grew the elder one.

A knight came riding to the lady's door,
He'd travelled far to be their wooer.

He courted one with gloves and rings,
But he loved the other above all things.

Oh sister will you go with me
To watch the ships sail on the sea?

She took her sister by the hand
And led her down to the North Sea strand.

And as they stood on the windy shore
The dark girl threw her sister o'er.

Sometimes she sank, sometimes she swam,
Crying, "Sister, reach to me your hand!

"Oh Sister, Sister, let me live,
And all that's mine I'll surely give."

"(It's) your own true love that I'll have and more,
But thou shalt never come ashore."

And there she floated like a swan,
The salt sea bore her body on.

Two minstrels walked along the strand
And saw the maiden float to land.

They made a harp of her breastbone,
Whose sound would melt a heart of stone.

They took three locks of her yellow hair,
And with them strung the harp so rare.

They went into her father's hall
To play the harp before them all,

But when they laid it on a stone
The harp began to play alone.

The first string sang a doleful sound:
"The bride her younger sister drowned."

The second string as that they tried,
In terror sits the black-haired bride.

The third string sang beneath their bow,
"And surely now her tears will flow

Apotropaic Magic

Apotropaic magic

The ancient blue and white "Nazar boncuğu" symbol, a stylised eye thought to "avert evil", appears on this contemporary airplaneApotropaic magic is a ritual observance that is intended to turn away evil. It can be as elaborate as the use of magical ceremonies or spells, or as simple as the vaguely superstitious carrying or wearing of a "good luck" token or "charm" (perhaps on a charm bracelet), crossing one's fingers or knocking on wood.

"Apotropaic" is an adjective that means "intended to ward off evil" or "averting or deflecting evil" and commonly refers to objects such as amulets or other symbols. The word is of Greek origin: apotrope literally means "turning away" or averting (as in "averting the evil eye"). The Greeks propitiated the chthonic "Gods of Aversion"—the apotropaioi.

Andromeda

Andromeda was a woman from Greek mythology who, as divine punishment for her mother's bragging, was chained to a rock as a sacrifice to a sea monster. She was saved from death by Perseus, her future husband. Her name is the Latinized form of the Greek Ανδρομέδη (Andromēde). The etymology of the name is "to think of a man," from ανδρός (andros) "man" combined with μήδομαι (mēdomai) "to think, to be mindful of."

Her mother Cassiopeia bragged that she was more beautiful than the Nereids, the nymph-daughters of the sea god Nereus and often seen accompanying Poseidon. To punish the Queen for her arrogance, Poseidon, brother to Zeus and God of the Sea, sent a sea monster called Cetus to ravage the coast of Ethiopia and the kingdom of the vain Queen. The desperate King consulted the Ammon, the Oracle of Zeus, who announced that no respite would be found until the king sacrificed his virgin daughter Andromeda to the monster. She was chained naked to a rock on the coast of Jaffa. The rock is allegedly still visible today.
Perseus, returning from having slain the Gorgon Medusa, found Andromeda and slew the monster Cetus. He set her free, and married her in spite of Andromeda having been previously promised to Phineus. At the wedding a quarrel took place between the rivals, and Phineus was turned to stone by the sight of the Gorgon's head (Ovid, Metamorphoses v. 1).
